St. Peter’s Episcopal Church

St. Peter’s serves the world in many ways. Your call to service might lie in one of these ministries, or you may feel called to lead us into new paths of service in Christ!

Serving the Community in the Name of Jesus

St. Peter’s role in serving the community of Spotswood and its surrounding neighbors is both historic and vital in the present moment. For generations, we have sought to “walk the talk” of following Jesus while answering his call to remember and serve those who struggle with poverty. St. Peter’s is designated as a Jubilee Center of the Episcopal Church

This service takes place on local, regional and global scales.

Local outreach includes devotion and service to Alice’s CUP Food Pantry and the Community of Hope Ministries maintained by our Church’s Community Development Corporation. We also maintain a Thrift Shop, open three days a week, that provides accessible goods to all at discounted prices. Our Helping Hands crafters fashion blankets, scarves, hats and caps for people in need, including newborns and the newly baptized, people going through treatment for illness and in rehabilitation, and for seafarers through the Seamen’s Church Institute’s Christmas-at-Sea program. Frequent ingatherings assist local and state-side charities.

Our “Change for Change” program encourages those attending services to offer their collected spare change as an almsgiving witness to concerns local and abroad. We have supported flood relief in Nepal, Women Aware (domestic violence prevention) in New Brunswick, NJ and the migration crisis in Europe. Each quarter, we choose a new charity, learn about its witness and lend our support.
